History & The Promoters of Sri Ayyappa Seva Samaj


The History of Sri Ayyappa Temple is dated back to 14th January 1989 when the 1st Makara Vilakku Pooja was celebrated, the idea of which is originated by late Mr. C. R. Sathish, a veteran resided in Kenya. The overwhelming response from the Ayyappa Devotees in Kenya inspired Mr. Sathish, Mr. K.V Krishnan, T.R.SMenon, Mr. Somasundaram, Mr. Rajan Valiathan , Mr. Nambiar, Mr. Umesh and others to form Sri Ayyappa Seva Samaj on 6th May 1989. Subsequently the Makara Vilakku Pooja was being celebrated every year under the banner of Sri Ayyappa Seva Samaj. However, the Samaj was officially registered on 15th April 1997. With the kind consent of Sri Ram Mandir Managing Committee the foundation stone for the temple was laid on 9th December 2001. The installation and consecration of the idol was done on 26th May 2002 by Shri Kaimukkumana Jadavedan Thirumeni.

PROMOTORS OF THE TEMPLE

The Executive Committee were the promoters of the temple. The Committee Chaired by Mr. M. Velayudhan consisted of Mr. Rajan Valiathan, Mr. Rajan Nair, Mr. Narasimhan, Mr. Prathap Kumar, Mr. Nitin Satish, Mr. T. C. Srivatsan, Mr. S.L. Kumar, Mr. Mahesh Gopinathan, Mr. Ramadas Iyer, Mr. K.N K Krishnan, Mr. A.S. Sinha, & Mr. K.O.S. Nambiar
